Stephen is back with some more random meangerings for you to enjoy(or not). Right now the World Cup is all the rage. I for one never got into soccer at all. Me being a big guy and couldn't really run up and down the fields at top speeds cordinating the ball and all. If I can't play it, then I'm not interested.... Give me football,MMA,or hockey any day of the week!
Totally different subject here, but I am sooooooooo glad(how glad is he?) that there are finally good shows for karaoke in whatcom county!! Now there is the Fairhaven,which is a mainstay and a great show, but there are two others now in the mix. ibDJ Mobile Media and the new rock-a-roke sensation "The Uncanny Valley". ibDj Mobile Media has 3 shows at the Pioneer bar in Ferndale monday,thursday, and saturday nights. The Uncanny Valley travel various bars in the county,so keep looking in the papers for upcoming shows.
People ask me," Stephen there are many shows in whatcom county for karaoke aren't there?" The answer is "yes", but these other shows are sub-par at best. Either there is severe drama or the host is a drug addict who can't do his/her job. This is my blog and I voice my opinion and don't pull any punches. This won't be printed any time soon in the karaoke newspaper and shouldn't. A published entertainment newspaper is not the place to air the dirty laundry.
Another thing I hear from people who go to some of the above shows," Hey this guy only has 10,000 songs and Apollo Inc. has over 100,000 songs." Ok , true Apollo does have a massive selection that they can run off their computer,however these are pirated songs and highly illegal!!! Major karaoke companies such as Sound Choice, are putting the smack down on a lot of these guys that are running illegal karaoke tracks during their shows. The Fairhaven & ibDJ Mobile Media have legit paid for song discs that are licensed by the companies. Uncanny Valley does live band karaoke so they don't fall under this catagory since they themselves perform the music!
Been rediscovering some old 80's bands. Squeeze and Midnight Oil are two bands I have been listening a lot to lately. Squeeze is an England based band and Midnight Oil is from Australia. Their biggest hits here in the states was "Tempted" and "Beds Are Burning" respectively. I recommend checking these cats out-cool stuff!!
