I for one am soooo damn sick of seeing the silver screen littered with remakes and "re-imaginings" of movies. Last year MTV in their infinite wisdom was going to do a remake of the 1975 cult phenom "Rocky Horror Picture Show". You can't put lightning in a bottle twice and this would have been a travesty. Luckily MTV decided against this. Tim Burton tried twice with "Planet Of The Apes" and "Charlie And The Chocolate Factory", although to Burton's credit he adapted his version from the book as opposed to the classic Gene Wilder version. Never the less people didn't like either of his takes despite Burton's artistic flare.
Horror movies are being remade by the dozens. 70's and 80's horror icons such as Freddy and Jason have now been redone as well as numerous Japanese and European films. My question to Hollywood is that with so very many comic books and novels out there to create new creative stories and visions, do you keep going back to the proverbial well oh so many times?
How can we make it stop? Don't go see the remakes folks! It's really as easy as that. If you stop paying to see this crap then Hollywood won't make it.
